Jennifer Browne — Secretary
Jennifer Browne brings a lifelong connection to the Southern Shore and a deep commitment to preserving and celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich history. Raised in Renews, she developed an early appreciation for the region’s heritage and has maintained a longstanding relationship with the Colony of Avalon and the Ferryland archaeological excavations. Jennifer spent five summers working on the Ferryland Dig in both field and laboratory roles, gaining firsthand experience in archaeological research and heritage interpretation. She also previously served on the Colony of Avalon Board of Directors from 2008–2012 and is pleased to continue supporting an organization that has played such an important role in her personal and professional journey.
Jennifer brings extensive leadership and governance experience through her service on numerous local and national boards, including her current role as a Board Director with the Counselling Foundation of Canada.
Professionally, Jennifer is the Director of Student Life and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University, as well as an Assistant Professor (PT/LD) in the Faculty of Education at Western University. She also serves as Editor of the SSHRC-funded Canadian Journal of Career Development, contributing to the advancement of career development research and practice in Canada and internationally.
Jennifer is honoured to serve on the Colony of Avalon Board and is passionate about ensuring that future generations can learn from, engage with, and be inspired by one of North America’s most significant archaeological and cultural heritage sites.
