The Colony of Avalon Foundation was incorporated in 1994 as a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our mandate? To investigate, preserve and present the archaeological remains of Lord Baltimore’s Colony of Avalon.

We employ between 15-20 seasonal staff, support archaeological excavation and research, and operate a fully-equipped conservation laboratory with collection storage, Visitor Centre, a reproduction 17th seventeenth-century kitchen, three heritage gardens and gift shop.

We are governed by a volunteer board of directors. Day-to-day operations of the Colony’s archaeology,
conservation, interpretation and retail divisions are administered by our Executive Director.
